Support APICAG

For months now the Asian and Pacific Islander Cultural Awareness Group (APICAG) has been organizing against repressive tactics from DOC to disband cultural groups, disrupt and stop group meetings, block orientation of sponsors, and pause functions and activities of cultural groups. Cultural groups have been demanding that they have a right to protections.

Despite many attempts to demand accountability from DOC and a need for a policy protecting cultural groups, they have continued to refute claims of repression and gaslight our incarcerated community members. Now DOC is attempting to minimize the work of cultural groups and turn APICAG into a volunteer program, stripping them of their agency and ability to host peer-led cultural events.

That’s why we’re asking for your help. We need DOC to listen to the demands of our incarcerated community members and take accountability.
