Housing costs and homelessness are at a crisis level in the Puget Sound region and throughout the State of Washington.  HB 2437 provides an additional tool to tackle this crisis by giving counties or cities the option to keep a portion of state sales tax to bond against for use in increasing local affordable and supportive housing options.  It does NOT increase the sales tax rate, but rather makes it possible to repurpose some of what already exists to step up local responses to the housing and homelessness emergency.
