Support Housing at 1880 Coney Island Ave!

A rezoning effort is underway to build much-needed new housing at 1880-1888 Coney Island Ave, in Midwood, Brooklyn. The proposal would bring an 8-story, mixed-use development with 231 new homes, including either 60 or 70 affordable units — more than double the number of affordable homes built in Brooklyn Community District 12 in the last decade. The site is close to transit, and would also include a green roof, solar panels, a blue roof under all non-green roof areas, and a pocket park behind the development.
Unfortunately, the local community board and council member have indicated they oppose the project. City Council leaders Speaker Adrienne Adams, Land Use Committee Chair Rafael Salamanca, and Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises Chair Kevin Riley need to hear from us to make it clear that our housing crisis is a citywide problem — and every neighborhood and council district needs to do it part to add new housing.
