Support Maryland Personal Information Privacy Act

The Maryland Personal Information Privacy Act (SB0234/HB0023) would prohibit MVA, as well as state and local law enforcement agencies, from sharing personal data with federal agencies for civil immigration enforcement, and for criminal immigration enforcement without a judicial warrant. It would also require public reporting of all such requests.

Federal authorities have used Maryland MVA personal records to search for undocumented immigrants and their family members, violating all our privacy in the process. With this bill as law, federal authorities would no longer be able to trawl through all Marylanders' personal information in order to enforce non-criminal immigration laws without a warrant.
