Support Rep. Tlaib's amendment allowing agricultural exports to Cuba!
Good news! Yesterday the Rules Committee ruled on an amendment that would limit unfair and severe U.S. restrictions on Cuba that directly contribute to scarcity on the island. The Amendment put forth by Rep. Tlaib would prevent the funds made available by this Act from being made available to implement, administer or enforce Section 908(b) of the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2000 (22 U.S.C. 7207(b)), prohibition on financing of agricultural sales to Cuba.
Contact your Representative and ask them to VOTE YES on Rep. Tlaib's Amendment on Agricultural Sales to Cuba. Tell them that this is a small but important action to alleviate hardships on the island caused by U.S. sanctions.
Our moving quickly to contact Reps is important. This may be the first floor vote on removing a sanction or restriction on trade with Cuba in at least 5 years. The Amendment may be offered today (or tomorrow) to the Minibus Appropriations Act HR 8294. Take action now!
