Support SB 285 To Allow Cannabis Lounges to Prepare and Sell Food

Update: SB 285 has passed on the Senate floor and is heading to the Assembly for hearings.

Currently, cannabis retailers that provide spaces for their customers to consume cannabis are not permitted to prepare or sell non-cannabis food or beverages to be consumed on the premises. SB 285 would authorize a local jurisdiction to allow for the preparation or sale of non-cannabis food or beverage products, by a licensed retailer or microbusiness in the area where the consumption of cannabis is allowed. This bill will help licensed cannabis businesses stay afloat against heavy taxes and regulations, and allow cannabis consumers a more enjoyable experience at their local retailer. We should have the same rights as consumers of alcohol, who can go to bars and enjoy a sandwich or a cup of coffee.
