Support the SSI Restoration Act

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a "program of last resort" that provides basic financial assistance to seniors and people with disabilities who typically have no other income. The current benefit is 74% of the poverty line and to qualify, single recipients must not hold assets above $2,000-- a figure that has not been updated since 1989. This prevents SSI recipients from saving for an emergency, buying a reliable vehicle, or paying first/last/security to move between rentals, even as their disabilities lead to changing needs in housing. The SSI Restoration Act of 2021 will tie SSI benefits to inflation, adjust the resource limit and earned income limit, eliminate the marriage penalty, and more. Learn more here.

Ask your Senators and Representative to support this important bill today. Different letters will be assigned to those Members of Congress who have and have not yet co-sponsored the SSI Restoration Act.
