Tell City Hall: The Building Equity Fund Should Support Environmental Justice
The City of Boston is moving forward with BERDO, which is the policy that forces Boston's largest building owners to reduce carbon pollution and energy use. Buildings over 20,000 square feet are a huge contributor to climate change and poor air quality, which burdens communities of color. The owners of these buildings will have to improve their facilities, buy clean energy, and/or pay into the Building Equity Fund.
Now, we need to speak up about the Building Equity Fund. This fund must prioritize environmental justice populations - low-income, Black and brown, and immigrant neighborhoods.
Use this tool to send an official comment to the City of Boston's BERDO Review Board. We've pre-written a comment, which you can edit, calling on them to make sure the Fund prioritizes air quality improvements, lowering energy burdens, low-income affordable housing and housing stabilization, worker standards and access to green careers, and clean energy installations.
There are two steps. First, fill out your contact info and click START WRITING. Then you'll see the letter you can edit and submit.
