Tell Gov Cooper to veto SB 722

The Wake County Senate delegation to the NC General Assembly all voted against Senate Bill 722, which, among other things, moves Raleigh’s next municipal election to November 2022.

Because of census delays, most other municipalities are rescheduling their elections until March 2022, but the Raleigh City Council majority discussed this in secret, with no public engagement or public vote, and asked for a special bill to support their undemocratic power grab. Senator Dan Blue criticized their tactics in a floor speech: “What I do have a problem with is the citizens of Raleigh haven’t had an opportunity to comment on any of this.”

The bill now goes to Governor Cooper for signing.

Please contact the Governor and ask him to veto the bill because of the lack of transparency on the part of the Raleigh Council majority.
