Tell Hochul & PSC: Deny National Grid’s Southeast Suffolk Pipeline Rate Hike

Tell Governor Hochul and the Public Service Commission (PSC) to deny National Grid’s application for an additional rate hike for the Southeast Suffolk Pipeline

Background: In August 2019, the PSC approved a massive rate hike, allowing National Grid to raise monthly bills for nearly 2 million customers in Downstate New York.

Now National Grid has applied to raise bills even more through a surcharge which would pay for a controversial fracked gas pipeline it built in 2020 & 2021 in Suffolk County, Long Island.

National Grid claims it needs the 1.6 mile long pipeline, which was built south of Riverhead, to meet future demand, but we don’t need it. Instead, gas use must decrease for us to meet our legally mandated climate goals. National Grid knows this and is trying to cash in on every last fracked gas project it can get away with.

We need to tell Governor Hochul and the Public Service Commission that we refuse to pay for an unnecessary fracked gas pipeline in 2022!
