Tell Kenmore Council, Defend Renter Protections!

On Monday, September 16th, the Kenmore City Council will vote on whether to repeal two important renter protections they passed in 2022: Just Cause eviction protections that ensure landlords can't refuse to renew a tenant's lease without a good reason, and a law prohibiting landlords from unfair, abusive or deceptive acts.
Why? Because the Washington Business Properties Association, a "property rights" organization started by landlord lobbyists, sued the City of Kenmore in a transparent attempt to intimidate other small cities that are considering passing renter protections. Unfortunately, this attempt appears to be working, and Kenmore is considering a settlement agreement that would include repealing these two important protections. But if they cave to this pressure, other cities will too, and it will also damage efforts to defend and strengthen renter protections statewide.
Please take a minute to send an email to your councilmembers urging them to stay strong and protect Kenmore renters!
