Tell Legislators: Respect Collective Bargaining

Some members of the legislature’s Appropriations Committee earlier this week criticized our UCPEA union contract agreement during a public hearing. While the majority of House members voted to support our contract, Senate members of the committee had a tie vote, thus failing full approval.

Governor Malloy has since expressed publicly that he does not support our contract, and questioned its impact on the state budget.

As we did before the committee hearing, we need to send another series of messages to our elected representatives in both the Senate and House either by phone or email. This needs to be an even stronger message than simply asking for their support.

Legislators listen to their constituents, so it is important that we contact our legislators and ask that they support our UCPEA contract and respect the collective bargaining process.
