Tell Legislators to Stop the State Takeover of Ohio Public Education

Tell the House of Representatives to STOP Senate Bill 178, a State Takeover of Ohio's Education System!

SB178 would shift management and oversight of public education from the State Board of Education and Department of Education to the governor’s office. The bill also strips the State Board of significant roles and responsibilities around curriculum and academic standards. This blatant power grab infuses partisan politics into public education and silences the voices of families, voters, and taxpayers.

Senator Bill Reineke (R-Tiffin) and the Senate fast-tracked this massive 2,100-page overhaul of public education through the Senate during lame duck in a matter of weeks, and are now trying to rush it through the House in a matter of days!

Instead of collaborating with policymakers, the Department of Education, educators, administrators, and communities to address very real issues facing public education and building sustainable solutions lawmakers are rushing a power grab that creates more problems than it solves.

Ohio students are best served when families work with trained educators and caring board members to determine the face of education in the classroom. There is no place for partisan politics in public education.

It’s time elected leaders stopped prioritizing their own political agendas, and put Ohio kids at the head of the class!

Tell the House of Representatives to STOP SB178. Our kids' futures are at stake.
