Seattle’s eviction moratorium expires March 31. Renters in Washington state have been accruing $100 million in rental debt every month since the start of the pandemic. If the moratoriums are lifted now, a mass wave of evictions could increase homelessness and contribute to a new spike in COVID-19. It’s vital to extend the moratorium to give tenants stability so that rental assistance programs have time to be implemented. The city's moratorium also protects small businesses and nonprofits. Please take a minute to email Mayor Durkan urging immediate extension of the eviction moratorium until the end of 2021.
