Tell Mayor Todd Gloria to allocate 750k to the City Heights Urban Village Revitalization Project!

The Mid-City CAN (Community Advocacy Network) Youth Council and residents of City Heights request that Mayor Todd Gloria allocate 750k dollars in the FY24 budget to cover the initial cost to Revitalize the City Heights Urban Village Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park (Henwood Park).

The Urban Village refers to the hub in City Heights that includes Henwood Park, the City Heights Library, and the City Heights Recreation Center, right next to Rosa Parks Elementary School. All to say that the place serves numerous children, youth, and families. However, a walk around Henwood Park reveals the deteriorating state of the park and our children deserve better. It is a shame that for years, children have come to the park to see their playground regularly wrapped in caution tape - unable to use it. It is also a shame that our teens feel unsafe at the park due to poor lighting. They need a space where they can safely play.

The project is endorsed by the City Heights Area Planning Committee (CHAPC), the park is a high priority for the Council President representing District 9 and is supported by a vast number of community members and organizations.
