Tell Michigan House members to support mental health Care Response!

Tell Michigan House members we need care responders to support "Care Response" with SB 637 and SB 638

Michigan has an opportunity to prevent tragedies associated with mental health emergencies by passing two bipartisan bills.

SB 637, introduced by Sen. Stephanie Chang, a Democrat, creates funding for “care response” programs that send mental health professionals and peers with lived experience to mental health emergency calls instead of armed law enforcement officers.

SB 638, introduced by Sen. Rick Outman, a Republican, creates the Behavioral Health Diversion Fund to increase access to currently under-utilized jail diversion options that can keep people living with mental health or behavioral health concerns out of jail.

The Michigan Clubhouses and Fountain House have been advocating for Care Response funding throughout this legislative session and these two bills will be up for a full vote by the state House soon.

Please help support this bipartisan legislation by contacting your representative. You can send a letter easily by filling out this form!

Care response is Michigan will reduce violence, save lives and help those in crisis get the help they need.
