Data equity is essential to increasing our understanding of diverse populations and the particular challenges communities face. State bill H.3115, An Act Ensuring Equitable Representation in the Commonwealth, allow state agencies to collect, organize, and assemble public data on major ethnic groups.

This bill is a first step in combating the harmful biases in our community. Breaking down data into ethnic subgroups increases visibility for the diverse experiences and needs within the BIPOC communities. Disaggregated data collected equitably can foster a deeper and more specific understanding of what BIPOC communities need to thrive and brings us closer to addressing institutional needs that have gone unmet.
