Tell the Planning Commission to Pass Home in Tacoma For All

The Tacoma Pierce County Democratic Socialists of America and their allies have been working on a platform, Home in Tacoma for All, which responds to the housing affordability crisis in Tacoma. We have three main demands:

  1. Affordable Homes for All--Make the Developers Pay!
  2. Stable Homes for All--Pass a Renter's Bill of Rights!
  3. Green Homes for All--Stop PSE from poisoning our families!

The Planning Commission is beginning to plan for Home in Tacoma Phase 2, an update to the city's housing, affordability, environmental, and anti-displacement codes. This reform package, which will ultimately be voted on in mid-2023, gives us an opportunity to prioritize affordability, tenants' rights, and sustainability in Tacoma. The Planning Commission is holding a hearing on April 20th at 5 pm, where they will gather feedback about Home in Tacoma Phase 2 and what it should focus on. The Planning Commission will face enormous pressure from developers, landlords and fossil fuel interests, but with a powerful grassroots movement we can transform housing policy in Tacoma.

We call on the Planning Commission to include the "HOME IN TACOMA FOR ALL" platform in “Home in Tacoma Phase 2”. We need you to send a comment to the Planning Commission, demanding that they prioritize affordability, tenant's rights, and sustainability in the Home in Tacoma Phase 2 process.
