Tell WA Senators to vote NO on $14.3 billion for Israel's military

*We started this action alert with a goal of 250 letters, and as of 12/8 increased our goal to 10,000 letters.*

An appropriations bill which will give another $14 billion in military funding and weapons to Israel, H.R. 6126 has passed the House of Representatives and is in front of the Senate.

Tell Washington state's Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell to vote no on this bill and any further support for Israel without provisions including:

  1. an end to the indiscriminate bombing of a civilian population,
  2. a permanent ceasefire,
  3. commitments to vital humanitarian assistance into Gaza,
  4. the right of return for displaced Gazans,
  5. guarantees of no long-term Israeli re-occupation or blockade of Gaza, and
  6. an end to settler violence and settlement expansion in the West Bank.

The current bill is the equivalent of writing a blank check for $14.3 billion in military funding and weapons to Israel. Tell our Senators to vote no.

BACKGROUND:
Here is a breakdown of the funding:

  1. $4.4 billion to replenish domestic defense stockpiles.
$4 billion to replenish Iron Dome and David’s Sling missile defense systems.
  2. $3.5 billion in Foreign Military Financing for the procurement of advanced weapons systems and defense articles and services.
  3. $1.2 billion for the continued development of the Iron Beam system to counter short-range threats.
  4. $1 billion to support artillery and munitions production.

The $14.3 billion would be taken from the $80 billion designated in President Biden’s 2022 Inflation Reduction Act for the IRS. The IRS intends to utilize these funds to modernize its aging computer infrastructure, enhance customer service, and intensify efforts to recover an estimated $600 billion in uncollected taxes each year, with a significant portion originating from affluent individuals who underreport their income.
