Tell Your Legislator: Pass a People's Budget That Invests in Education!

Negotiations of the PA Budget are coming down to the wire. And you can make a big difference in helping the state get to a better result, especially with regard to education funding.

Our state has an accumulated surplus of between $12 billion and $14 billion dollars. Governor Wolf has called for a major investment of a bit less than $2 billion of that surplus to be used to help all school districts, and especially those that historically have been most underfunded.

This investment would help our kids. It would help our economy. And it would put off or reduce property tax increases in every district–urban, suburban, and rural—no matter whether it leans to the Democrats or Republicans.

Funds are available to sustain this spending over the long term, yet too many Republican legislators are standing in the way of a deal. They say they are worried about sustaining this funding. But even if the governor gets everything he wants in the budget—and he won’t—the state would still have a $9 billion-$10 billion surplus a year from now.

Please contact your legislator today and ask them to support the dedication of at least $1 billion in new money to fund K-12 education in Pennsylvania for our schools and kids!
