Tell Your Legislator to Advocate for a Clean Environment!
Climate change is the most critical environmental threats confronting the world, with power generation being one of the largest contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. As a state, we must take rapid and economically sound steps to reduce emissions.
The veto override of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) failed. This means that RGGI will be published as rule of law most likely on Friday April 8. Pennsylvania will participate in a Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative auction in June. This is fantastic news.
However, there is anti-RGGI legislation still in play. SB119 is in the House and HB637 is in the Senate. The votes for these two bills most likely will take place next week. The significance of these bills is that if the bills pass, very little of money from RGGI auction proceeds will go to frontline communities—the very people that need help the most. Once again, low-income and black and brown communities will be left out.
Please fill out the form on the right to tell your legislators to vote NO on SB 119 and HB 637!
