Tell Your Rep NO On HB 636!
HB 636 will go to the House floor on Thursday and Our Vote Texas is still strongly opposed to this bill.
Recall that earlier this session, we opposed HB 636 on the grounds that would allow for voter intimidation and cultivate an unsafe environment for Texas voters.
The basis for HB 636 stems from a nonbinding opinion issued by Attorney General Paxton in 2018 that said election judges had the authority to carry firearms into polling places even despite the fact that guns are generally prohibited at polling places in the state of Texas.
We still firmly believe that HB 636 does not ultimately serve the public good and should not be advanced any further this session.
