URGENT: Tell Your Representative - Passing HB 367 Will Leave 65,000+ Kentuckians Hungry
House Bill 367 could result in more than 65,000 Kentuckians losing access to financial assistance when buying groceries to keep their families fed.
There are two ways the bill will contribute to hunger in Kentucky:
1) By reinstating a lower income limit for SNAP (food stamps) participation, which will affect SNAP recipients who make slightly more money than the new, lower income limit. It will also reinstate the asset test, which will prevent any Kentuckians who have assets and/or savings in excess of $2,750 (or $4,250 for seniors and people with disabilities) from receiving SNAP.
2) By getting rid of the work reporting requirement waiver that currently exists in part of the state with high unemployment rates. This would mean that these work requirements can’t be waived, even if unemployment suddenly increases.
Kentucky lawmakers cannot allow this to pass if they truly want Kentuckians to prosper.
