Tell Your Representatives to Fund Our Government, Stop a Shutdown Now!

Republican leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives will present a new funding plan to Congress today, Dec. 20. If a deal is not agreed to by midnight tonight, the federal government will shut down.

Elon Musk and President-elect Trump have pressured some House Republicans to suspend the debt limit or eliminate it entirely before Trump takes office resulting in these Republicans blocking a bipartisan funding package.

Tell your Representatives that they work for you and to do their job so that federal workers and federal contract workers, many of whom live paycheck to paycheck, can do theirs!

A shutdown will cause crisis for federal workers and federal contract workers, including countless IAM and National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE-IAM) members.

More than 1 million federal contract workers went without pay during the longest government shutdown in history, which began in December 2018 and ended in January 2019. Federal contract workers were furloughed or forced to work without pay during the record-breaking 35-day shutdown. These men and women work side-by-side with federal workers, performing jobs vital to the government and the people of the United States.

Send this prewritten letter to your Representatives in the House, insisting that they do everything in their power to avoid a government shutdown that would devastate countless workers with lost wages.
