Tell your state lawmakers to support the education funding PA students need and deserve in the 2023-2024 state budget

On February 7, 2023, Commonwealth Court declared the school funding system in Pennsylvania unconstitutional. A substantial investment in funding for public schools in the 2023-2024 state budget would represent a down payment toward meeting the state’s constitutional obligation and put Pennsylvania back on the path to ensuring that all students, no matter where they live, have the resources necessary to succeed.

We are calling on the legislature to support a budget that includes:

  • A $700 million increase in Basic Education Funding

  • $300 million in NEW Level Up funding

  • A $237 increase in special education funding

  • A 214 million increase in career and technical education funding

  • $1 billion in facilities funding released over two years

  • $373 million in savings on charter school tuition payments by more closing aligning tuition rates with charters’ actual costs

With a projected state operating surplus at the end of this fiscal year of more than $8 billion and another $5 billion in the Rainy Day Fund, there is no reason for our state government to continue depriving another generation of students of the quality of education that they deserve, and that the constitution demands.

Please take two minutes to send your state lawmakers a letter calling on them to support the education funding that students need and deserve in the 2023-2024 state budget.
