Mike Madigan, speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives for all but two years since 1983, is a corrupt politician who presents the biggest obstacle to progressive legislation statewide. He only cares about entrenching his own power, not about helping the people of Illinois. He represents everything that's wrong with Illinois politics, and it's time for him to go.
For the first time in years, we have a chance for new leadership! Due to a recent bribery scandal involving ComEd, the state's largest energy utility, Madigan's support among his own party has started to crumble to the point that he's recently suspended his campaign to be re-elected as speaker. But it's not over yet: he made clear that he still isn't fully withdrawing his candidacy, and one of his close allies could still run for speaker. Help us make sure that Madigan is as far from power as possible, and send a letter to your state representative telling them it's time for new leadership in Illinois.
