Thank the NC General Assembly for Passing Step Therapy Reform

The North Carolina General Assembly has joined more than 20 states in reforming step therapy and helping North Carolinians access the treatments they need to stay healthy. Step therapy, also known as “fail first,” is a health insurance practice which forces patients to try and fail on medications other than what their health care provider prescribes.

The North Carolina General Assembly passed Senate Bill 361, which will streamline step therapy and give physicians a clear, transparent process to exempt their patients from step therapy when it is medically necessary.
