Mid-City CAN (Community Advocacy Network) Youth Council and residents of City Heights request that the City of San Diego revitalize the Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park.
Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park is at the center of the City Heights Urban Village; it includes Officer Jeremy Henwood Memorial Park, City Heights Library, and the City Heights Recreation Center, right next to Rosa Parks Elementary School. Investing in this park will help continue to provide a place for families, youth and individuals to gather, have fun and foster a sense of community amongst not only City Heights residents, but all other San Diegans that visit the park space.
While the City of San Diego has allocated funding for this project the last two budget cycles, but this will only be enough funding to pay for the 2-5 year old tot lot. We still need more funding to ensure that the rest of the park is revitalized and up to the standard that City Heights deserves.
