On May 15th the Senate voted YES on SCR 3 to accept the MFP school funding plan that was unanimously approved by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). This funding plan included:

$101 million to fund pay increases for teachers and school support staff
$39 million in additional funding for local school districts

Thank you to all the senators who voted to approve funding for our schools, despite political pressure to cut the MFP!

SCR 3 passed nearly unanimously: 37-1! Senator Appel of Metairie was the only 'no' vote (John Smith from Leesville was absent).
