The world is starving for resources, we have them to give.

The past two years of overlapping global crises have exacerbated and exposed global inequalities and their considerable impact on people’s lives. Global crises cannot be resolved only by high-income countries with low-income countries left to fend for themselves.

Countries need resources to strengthen their economies and feed their people. And there are resources available, Special Drawing Rights (SDRs) are the reserve asset of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which are distributed in times of crisis. Last year Action Corps supporters like you were instrumental in convincing the US Treasury Department to work with the IMF to release $650 Billion worth of SDRs to help countries respond to the Pandemic. The funds were used immediately by the majority of the world's low-income countries, with multiple world leaders from Africa and the Caribbean calling for more.

The world is on the brink of a global food crisis. According to the World Food Program, in the past two years, the number of severely food-insecure people worldwide has more than doubled to 276 million. The combined effects of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the ongoing economic strife caused by the COVID 19 Pandemic are set to increase this number even further.

We have the opportunity now to meet the challenges we are facing together by taking action. Another issuance is desperately needed to combat the looming food crisis and continue health and economic recovery. With enough pressure from Congress and Constituents, the White House can direct the Treasury to authorize another allocation. SDRs come at no cost to the US but are extremely useful to our friends and allies. Help global recovery by adding your voice to those calling for another allocation of SDRs from the US Treasury and the IMF. We are asking you to urge your member of Congress to do the same.
