Thoughts and prayers are not enough. We demand action on gun violence!

“For thoughts and prayers call a priest or rabbi. For decent gun laws call a congressman, and if he doesn’t DO anything, sack him.”

We need action to stop the senseless gun violence in this country.

It’s not often that we find ourselves in agreement with members of the George W. Bush Administration, but a series of Tweets by Richard Painter perfectly expresses our thoughts about the GOP reaction to gun violence.

Painter, who was W’s ethics chief lawyer wrote, “Enough BS. For thoughts and prayers call a priest or rabbi. For decent gun laws call a congressman, and if he doesn’t DO anything, sack him.”

Every Republican Member of Congress was either silent or offered only prayers and platitudes—no recognition that they have a responsibility to act to stop the uniquely American problem of gun violence.

“Your ‘thoughts’ should be about steps to take to stop this carnage,” said Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn). “Your ‘prayers’ should be for forgiveness if you do nothing — again.”

If you agree that we need more than thoughts and prayers, please send this message to Congress by sending them a message:

Thoughts and prayers are not enough. We demand that you work to immediately pass common sense legislation to reduce gun violence and save lives.
