Time is running out. Tell your lawmakers to help PA's most underfunded school districts
We need your help.
There are only a few days remaining before the 2021 state budget is finalized, and despite a $3 billion surplus, we’re hearing that there is currently no plan for either a massive increase in education spending nor an equity supplement for the most dramatically underfunded districts in Pennsylvania.
Every child, regardless of their race, class, or zip code, deserves to attend a school with the resources they need to learn, grow, and pursue their dreams.
But Pennsylvania’s inadequate and inequitable education funding system causes the children who need the most to get the least because of where they live. And while the budget shortfalls of underfunded districts get worse every year, the Pennsylvania legislature is planning on ignoring the needs of the most underfunded districts in next year’s budget, despite a $3 billion surplus.
It’s not too late. We need a massive show of public support for a $100 million Level Up supplement fund to accelerate resources to the 100 most underfunded school districts in the Commonwealth.
Step 1: Call Governor Wolf at 717-787-2500 to ask him to fight for Level Up:
“Hello, this is [Name] from [City]. I’m calling to ask Governor Wolf to fight for a $100 million Level Up supplement fund in his education budget in addition to a substantial increase in education funding for all districts. Our students’ futures are at stake. We need Governor Wolf to fight to level up our 100 most underfunded districts.”
Step 2: Enter your address and send a letter to both of your state lawmakers.
