UMN CCPAC NOW!

Since the death of George Floyd, students on campus have been organizing for the reimagining of public safety on campus. 43 days have passed and the Regents have failed to take any action. The Regents are setting their annual priorities at their retreat over July 8th and 9th, and the needs of Black and brown students need to be prioritized.

The time for inaction has long since passed. As a body, they speak for us, the students. If these past 43 days have proven nothing to you, let it be known that we, the students, are not tired. We have organized, gathered, rallied, protested, and will continue to do so until our voices are put first. The demands we have of the Regents are not thoughtless, or random. They are specific to the issues that Black and brown bodies face too often on our campus. Ignoring the answers that have been laid out for them only further alienates their experiences.

If they speak for the students, speak for all of them. If they are for the students, they need to show us now. They must show their students that they stand with us, not against us.
