New Castle County Council will vote on Ordinance #20-101 on December 8, 2020 at 6:30PM. If approved, this will be the final step in advancing this important legislation which would get the state's largest and most populated county on the right track towards equality for all of it's citizens.

The ordinance is designed to ensure  Environmental Justice, Social Justice and Hazards Mitigation are properly addressed in New Castle County's Comprehensive Plan. The ordinance would require explicit elements in the plan to identify past land use and zoning practices that have created inequities in underserved communities, recognize implicit racial and social biases that may have influenced those actions, and identify best practices to achieve fair and equitable land use decisions going forward.
