Urge Legislators to Join Rep Wild's Philippines Briefing
We are alarmed about Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent acceptance of the Biden Administration’s invitation to the Summit for Democracy. In response, We would like to invite you alongside other members of Congress and staff to a briefing on the human rights situation and US Policy on the Philippines hosted by Rep Susan Wild on December 13th, from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM ET.
This briefing will feature leading figures in the nation's labor community, congressional opposition, and legal advocacy sector. Together, they will provide firsthand accounts of the devastating toll caused by mass-scale extrajudicial killings, arbitrary imprisonment, torture, and other systemic human rights violations under the Rodrigo Duterte regime. This will be a rare opportunity to hear from and ask questions of leaders on the frontlines of human rights battles in the Philippines.
With the presidential election in the Philippines rapidly approaching in just a few months and in light of the International Criminal Court's historic probe into Duterte's so-called "war on drugs", this briefing could not be more vital.
