Urge Your Senators to Prioritize Child Care in the FY24 Senate Budget!
Earlier this week, the Massachusetts Senate Ways & Means Committee released its proposal for the FY24 budget - and it's good news for early education! The proposal invests $1.5 billion in early education and care. But the Senate's budget isn't final yet and we need your help to make sure that this funding stays in!
- $475 million in guaranteed funding for direct-to-provider operations grants, which are critical to keeping child care programs open, promoting affordability, and increasing educator wages.
- $774 million to provide child care financial assistance for low-income families, an increase of $80 million from the FY23 Budget.
- $25 million to expand the reach of child care financial assistance dedicated to reducing the existing wait list.
- $20 million for a rate increase for both center-based and family child care providers serving children with EEC financial assistance.
- $10 million for professional development and career pathways initiatives for early educators.
- And more!
We are mobilizing #childcarevoters to call on the Senate to make sure all of these investments - and more - stay in Senate's final FY24 budget! Write your Senator today!
