Urge your WA state representatives to give localities the freedom to switch to even year elections!

The Washington State House of Representatives may vote as soon as the morning of February 8th on NPI's top priority bill this session: giving local governments the freedom to choose their own election timing.

Right now, an old state law dating back to the 1960s locks cities, towns, ports, and school boards into low turnout odd years, when most people don't vote.

Our bill, prime sponsored by our champion Mia Gregerson, would change that. It's a sensible electoral reform that could as much as double voter turnout in local elections, while also significantly diversifying it. Although it's an extremely popular idea that voters love, there is opposition, including from some elections officials, which is why it's critical that we let lawmakers know that we want this bill.

Please take action and urge your two state representatives to vote yes on HB 1932.
