Urgent: Tell DC Council to Vote Yes to Raise Taxes to End Homelessness!

Chairman Mendelson released his budget today and, while it makes some great investments like money for public housing repairs, eviction prevention and permanent supportive housing for individuals, it fails to address the looming eviction and homeless crisis at all for families, and provides insufficient funding for ending homelessness for individuals.

The only chance we have left to avoid mass displacement is a proposal spearheaded by Councilmembers Allen, Nadeau, and Lewis George to increase taxes on high-income earners and devote the money to child care and ending homelessness for thousands of households. Chairman Mendelson is pulling out all the stops to fight this proposal, and so are some businesses.

The vote is Tuesday at noon. We need your help tonight and tomorrow morning bringing this budget, and thousands of unhoused residents, home.
