**UPDATE: SB 83 was just voted out of committee! Next it will go to the Senate floor for a vote. This is a fast-tracking of a massively unpopular bill, with no regard for the record-breaking number of Ohioans who testified in opposition a few weeks ago.**

Senate Bill 83, better known as The Higher Education Destruction Act, is a sweeping higher education bill attacking academic freedom and a student’s freedom to learn. HB 151 weaponizes “intellectual diversity” to censor honest education, restrict DE&I training, ban worker rights and micromanage higher ed administration across the state.

In the weeks since we broke the Senate record for most amount of opposition testimony submitted against a bill, sponsor Senator Jerry Cirino has doubled down on his attacks against workers’ rights and academic freedom.

This bill could do real, irreversible damage to our institutions of higher education—and yet the Senate has fast-tracked it through the legislative process.

SB 83 is BAD for students. BAD for higher education. BAD for Ohio.
