Veto HB71

Extremists have successfully passed HB71 through both chambers, criminalizing medical providers for offering life-saving and gender-affirming care to Idaho's transgender youth. With a felony penalty and jail time looming over physician’s heads, we have already seen the chilling effect this act of violence is having in other states where it’s passed.

Gender-affirming care is always a slow and methodical process which includes countless appointments with several medical providers over the course of months and years, always with informed consent and appropriately guided by physicians and parents.

If HB71 passes into law it won’t just hurt transgender youth. All Idaho families who need to access healthcare will suffer. Your local physician, endocrinologist, and other providers may also be serving trans youth. If these medical professionals have to flee our state, their care goes along with them. Idaho prides itself on being the flagship of parental rights to oversee the care and raising of their own children. This legislation flies in the face of those rights and creates a slippery slope for continued harm.

Add the Words has been receiving calls from parents, frantically and rightfully scared for their trans teens if this legislation goes into effect January of 2024. The twelve NO votes on the Senate floor means a VETO could be sustained if issued by Gov. Little. We need your help!

We need you to encourage everyone you know, medical professionals and business owners especially, to engage with Governor Little's office now and respectfully ask for his VETO on HB71. After you email, make the phone call to his office. After you call, enlist all your family, friends and neighbors to do the same.

Send a message to Governor Little now and URGE his VETO on HB71!
