Via 313 Employees Need Raises
We, the employees of Via 313, are calling on the Austin community to support us in asking for pay raises.
Most of us have not received raises in over a year, and we are struggling as the cost of living increases. Starting pay for Via’s hourly employees is $16/hour, which is not a livable wage in Austin.
In June 2022, the Austin City Council voted unanimously to increase the minimum wage for City employees from $15 to $22. The first step of this plan went into effect on October 1, when all City employees were raised to a $20 hourly minimum wage. In January 2023, restaurants and retail stores at the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport followed suit and increased their minimum wage to $20/hour as well.
As restaurant employees in this city, we feel that we should also earn an amount that is appropriate to our cost of living.
Our pay is determined by Savory Restaurant Fund, an investment firm based in Utah. If Savory can afford to open 24 new Via locations, we know they can afford to pay their current employees a living wage.
Please join us in urging Savory to increase our pay to an Austin minimum wage of at least $20/hour.
Email Savory to let them know that Via 313 employees deserve better.
