No last minute changes to redistricting rules

Last week the Ohio Senate passed its version of the state budget -- throwing in at the last minute a number of damaging amendments that are harmful to democracy. One amendment directly addresses redistricting lawsuits, giving priority to the Ohio Speaker and Senate President.

The people of Ohio have made it abundantly clear, repeatedly, that they want a fair, bipartisan process with transparency and public participation. Ohioans’ call for fair and bipartisan redistricting is undermined by the Ohio Senate’s last-minute amendment about redistricting lawsuits

The state operating budget should be focused on the fiscal stability of the state and its residents, not a vehicle for evading public debate and scrutiny.

Members of the Conference Committee need to hear that you oppose the amendment about redistricting lawsuits. Send a letter now >>
