Tell Your Elected Representatives: Expand Connecticut’s Only Public Hospital for the Public Good
UConn Health is Connecticut's only public hospital left in the state and for patients and their families, students and postdocs, and small businesses, it represents more than just a hospital. Offering quality clinical care, a world-class education and cutting-edge scientific research, UConn Health is a critical facet to our public health infrastructure.
UConn Health cares for the patients from Connecticut’s most under-served communities - nearly 60 percent of those we provide dental services for are under- or uninsured;
70% of UConn medical school graduates eventually practice here in Connecticut as residents or attending physicians and more than 50% of the state's dentists are also graduates; &
UConn Health's world-class faculty and staff bring in nearly $100 million in research grants and contracts from outside Connecticut, creating more than $2 billion in positive economic impact.
With so much public good coming from this public institution, we as a state should be talking about how we can expand UConn Health, so that all of our residents can benefit from affordable and accessible quality health care.
Our state legislators need to hear from you about the benefits for all patients, small businesses and students of investing in Connecticut’s only public medical center.
