Women Uniting for Accountability

As part of the Make the BOP Accountable Again (MBOPAA) campaign, we are reaching out to the Independent Women’s Forum (IWF)—a leading voice for women in policy and reform—to ask for their support in exposing government inefficiencies and pushing for real oversight.

Why does this matter?

1) The First Step Act was signed into law seven years ago, yet people are still being held past their release dates due to bureaucratic failures.

2) Families deserve respect, yet we can’t even get NOKI S.5477 sponsored—a bill that simply requires notifying next of kin in a federal prison emergency. If something happens, families are left in the dark.

3) Congress passed the Federal Prison Oversight Act, yet without funding and enforcement, it is meaningless.

We are asking IWF to stand with us—to use their platform, influence, and voice to help us raise awareness and push for accountability. Women—mothers, wives, daughters, and sisters—are the ones carrying this burden. We cannot continue to be ignored.

By sending this letter, you are helping ensure voices are heard and government accountability is no longer just a talking point. It’s time for leadership to stop making empty promises and start enforcing the laws they pass.
