Take Action: Social Security Trustees confirm we can afford to expand Social Security
All Members of Congress
The Social Security Trustees have released their annual report and it shows that Social Security is stronger than ever. And it confirms that when millionaires and billionaires pay their fair share, we can afford to expand benefits for millions of Americans.
Rep. John Larson’s Social Security 2100 Act already has over 200 cosponsors in the House. With your support, we can pass this critical bill out of the House and get one step closer to expanding Social Security for millions of Americans.
Sign the petition demanding immediate action to expand Social Security’s modest benefits. When we do, we address the looming retirement income crisis and growing income and wealth inequality.

The new Social Security Trustees Report confirms that Social Security has a large surplus (roughly $2.9 trillion), can pay out all benefits owed until 2035 and 80% of benefits after that. All we need is for the wealthy to pay their fair share and we can afford to not only extend the lifespan of the trust fund, but expand benefits for millions of Americans. We demand that Congress take immediate action to raise Social Security’s modest average annual benefit of about $16,000. We can afford to protect and expand Social Security when millionaires and billionaires pay the same rate as the rest of us.
