ADD YOUR NAME: we need an AAPI moderator at the next #DemDebate

DNC, PBS, Politico

The Democratic party is the party of the people. But where is the representation in the Democratic debates? In the history of Democratic debates since 1956, there have been zero AAPI moderators. Even this cycle, when three AAPI and Pacific Islander candidates are running for President, and after four whole debates, we have yet to see an AAPI moderator.

The debate organizers, including some of America’s biggest media outlets, have done a good job of including black and Latinx moderators, but where are the AAPIs? Representation matters.

Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the fastest growing racial group in the U.S. Three AAPIs are running for President. The DNC now has AAPIs in senior level positions and national AAPI outreach and press efforts. There are two AAPI Campaign Managers and record numbers of senior and junior-level staff. Now is the time that AAPIs are represented as moderators on the debate stage.

Join us in urging the DNC to include an AAPI Democratic debate moderator.

We are asking that you show your support for the AAPI community by including an AAPI moderator at the next debate to be held in California.
