Hello Accokeek Community,

Accokeek Academy is a PreK- 8 school currently over 100% utilization!   The school currently has over 1650 students! It was built to hold 1401 students. That means that something immediate needs to be done to alleviate the overcrowding while still allowing all Accokeek residents in area code 20607 to attend Accokeek Academy.

The next question that needs to be asked of the Board of Education is, where are these students going to attend high school? Currently, the BoE has no immediate plans! We, the Accokeek community advocate for a high school be built in Accokeek. This HS should be built big enough to hold a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Program along with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Program. This will allow the students a chance to stay in their community school and they can attend after school programs while not enduring long bus rides! The new high school should include an indoor swimming pool. Students need to learn life skills!  

The BoE will claim the State BoE will not fund a high school in Accokeek until all surrounding high schools are at full capacity. Well if that was the case, ask how did Accokeek Academy get built? Please sign our petition! Thanks for your support!
