When politicians have the power to draw electoral maps, they manipulate district lines to divide or pack together certain populations, keeping themselves and their party in power. This gerrymandering is a major threat to our democracy, and silences communities across Texas.
The politicians that control our state’s redistricting process would like nothing more than to draw maps that box voters out to protect their own power. And, I’m counting on folks like you speaking up to make sure that can’t happen. It’s important that we tell mapmakers the stories of our communities -- where we live, who we are, and what we care about.
With redistricting underway, we're leading the fight here in Texas to make sure our redistricting process prioritizes the needs of our communities -- not partisan politicians.
Every eligible voter in Texas has the right to be heard -- and to know that their vote counts in selecting the people and policies that affect their family, their friends, and their community.
