Everyone deserves to breathe clean air, and everyone deserves to be healthy. But in reality, access to both human rights is unequal. Those who can avoid the effects of air pollution and climate change are those who can afford to.

There are major gaps in the response to air pollution and extreme fire events, with BIPOC and low-income communities consistently being hit the hardest by climate crises. And despite a high demand for air filtration systems, not many people in these communities can afford to spend up to $600 to gain access to clean air during wildfires.

Brightline Defense has distributed over 100 individual air filtration systems to residents that lack air purifying infrastructure, many of whom have little to no resources to protect themselves from poor air quality during catastrophic events. But we need more than that.
