Since April, as per Trump administration policy, thousands of immigrant children have been torn apart from their families and detained in warehouses and Walmarts.

Breastfeeding infants have been ripped from the arms of their mothers. Babies as young as three months old are being shipped to foster care agencies all across the country.

Now, Trump is trying to trick us into believing that jailing asylum seekers as family units is any kind of fix for the human rights atrocities he and his administration have carried out.

And there are no administrative plans in place to reunite children with their families.

In the midst of this extreme tragedy, what does Melania Trump do on her way to visit a children’s border detention center in Texas? Wears a jacket with the words “I REALLY DON’T CARE, DO U?” emblazoned on the back.

We care about the children your husband and his white supremacist friends are needlessly traumatizing. We care about the parents who are frantically trying to contact their children, not knowing if they’ll ever see them again.

We care because immigrants are humans, not animals.
